Joe Freddoso became President and CEO of MCNC in 2007. In his role, he works with the MCNC Board of Directors, the MCNC Advisory Committee and MCNC staff to meet the organization’s mission of employing advanced Internet Protocol (IP) networking technologies and systems to continuously improve learning, research and collaboration throughout North Carolina’s K-20 education community. He is also active in the local RTP community serving as a member of the North Carolina e-Learning Commission, the North Carolina Board of Science and Technology and on the Board of Directors for Triangle Family Services. Freddoso also serves on the Board of Trustees for national research network, Internet2.
Freddoso came to MCNC after more than seven years with Cisco. He served as director of Cisco's Research Triangle Park site operations for six years. Prior to his work at Cisco, Freddoso served as CEO of the 1999 Special Olympics World Summer Games Organizing Committee. Freddoso holds a M.S. degree in Sports Administration from St. Thomas University in Miami, FL and B.A. degrees in management and psychology from Marietta College in Marietta, OH.
